He started a non-profit called Inspire Michigan with the hope of one day handing over the reigns to his daughter. However, when that little girl grew up to become a teenager, she had bigger ideas. Her vision to expand the mission and create positive changes all over the country required a new organizational approach. Inspire America was born in 2019 with Shaylen Gough and her father as Co-Founder.
Inspire America exists to support and lead innovative campaigns that create social and political change in the United States. The changes we inspire focus on justice, equality and Freedom.
We don't play politics (period). Our battles are waged over right and wrong ... and you know the difference, whether you want to admit it or not.
Founder
Shaylen Gough is a young human rights activist. She is a boarding student at the Cranbrook Kingswood School, where she was welcomed with the Crane Scholarship. She uses her role as a student leader to speak publicly about the Black Lives Matter movement, gender inequality, indigenous issues, LGBT+ issues, and mental health for students. She is a leader of the school’s student-lead DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) program, which actively works to improve the Cranbrook educational community from the inside out. As a leader of Peer2Peer, she facilitates conversations on mental health and wellness. She also is a Michigan Youth in Government representative, and a member of other student-led advocacy projects.
Co-Founder
Joseph Gough is an entrepreneur and executive leader in the healthcare and digital media industries. He is a patent-holding inventor and digital innovator in a variety of gamified technology experiences. His collaborations in care management with the “Digital Discharge” platform, the “Wellopp” Social Determinants of Health application, and “WAVR” Virtual Reality tools have all created ground-breaking results in peer-reviewed clinical trials. As an Executive Director at Aledade, the nation’s leading value-based care consultancy, Gough directs operations in Michigan and Wyoming.
